Framing Sharks for Best Color and Contrast
By Tobias Friedrich
To frame a Caribbean reef shark in the open blue water, choose a wide or ultra wide-angle lens to capture its full body and the surrounding depth. You can also add a SportDiver external wide-angle lens. Position yourself slightly below or at the shark’s level to emphasize its shape against the vibrant water. Move slowly and steadily to keep the shot sharp and avoid stirring up sediment. Allow sunlight to illuminate the shark from above, enhancing its contours and creating a sense of scale in the scene.
Equipment: iPhone 16 Pro Max in a SeaLife SportDiver Ultra housing, 1.0x iPhone lens and 6”/15cm Wide Angle Dome Lens, Sea Dragon Duo 6000 Color Boost Photo-Video lights.
