Narrow Beam Spotlight Photography Underwater

By Tobias Friedrich

By using a handheld dive light like the Sea Dragon Mini 1200, you can partially illuminate subjects or create a spotlight effect. The viewer’s eye focuses immediately on the subject with this technique.  You could also mount the Sea Dragon 1200 or 1600 to a grip or arm using optional YS adapter (SL98104), or use the Sea Dragon Pro Dual Beam, which offers a 15° narrow beam option. With some added patience a little bit of luck, you can even capture a nice shot of the animal's behaviour.

Equipment: iPhone 16 Pro Max in a SeaLife SportDiver Ultra housing, 1x iPhone lens with one SeaDragon Mini 1200 Photo-Video light, SportDiver Lens Adapter & SeaLife +6 67mm Macro lens
