Finding the Best Macro Opportunities: Higher Up is Better!

By Tobias Friedrich

Finding small and colorful subjects is important for macro dives. If you are diving around Asia, you'll have fantastic dive guides who will look and point out opportunities for you. Then, it's up to you to decide how to take the image of an underwater critter or subject.

Discovering a sea slug sitting on a high part of the coral reef is one of those typical and ideal opportunities, so I added some perspective and shot upward from slightly below the slug, adding a nice contrast behind the colorful subject.
