Capture Interest with good Composition

By Tobias Friedrich

When taking underwater photos, sometimes less is more. This Manta Ray didn’t come close enough, but rather continued cruising over the rocky seafloor. I decided to use the "Rule of Thirds" to create an engaging image for this Manta. By placing the subject into a third of the frame, the image’s negative space becomes balanced and interesting, and you can create a story in the shot about this magnificent subject.

Equipment: iPhone 16 Pro Max in a SeaLife SportDiver Ultra housing, 1x iPhone lens and a Sea Dragon 2300F Photo-Video Light.
