How to best & easily photograph Sea Turtles

By Tobias Friedrich

While Turtles are resting near rocks or the sea floor, divers can usually swim closer as long as they stay calm and relaxed. Carefully approach the turtle to frame it with the reef. Taking a photo straight-on and close-up can be exciting but remember to frame the image from a lower perspective to show the blue water in the background. Take care to not stress the Sea Turtle or to disrupt its natural behavior.

Equipment: iPhone 14 Pro Max in a SeaLife SportDiver S housing, 0.5xx iPhone lens with one Sea Dragon 3000 Color Boost Photo-Video light.
