Photo Tip: Getting close without getting closer

By Tobias Friedrich

Schooling fish will swim widely spread, and this can create a creative shot unless there isn’t enough light from the surface or you’re too far away. You can address the distance by waiting for the fish to group together; then switch to the 1x lens on your smartphone, and take a photo of part of the group. For better flow in your image, take the photo with fish swimming in the same direction.

Equipment: iPhone 16 Pro Max in a SeaLife SportDiver S housing, 1x iPhone lens with one Sea Dragon 3000 Color Boost Photo-Video light.
