The World's Largest Artificial Reef Project (coming soon) . . .

The SS United States isn't a wreck yet but is being prepared to become the world's largest artificial reef off Florida, sinking in early 2026 near Destin after being cleaned in Mobile, AL, to provide marine habitat and a unique dive site, with land-based museum elements preserved separately. After decades of idleness, the historic liner is undergoing extensive environmental remediation before its intentional scuttling, with plans to allow recreational divers access to its upper decks, creating a major tourism and marine life attraction.
